What is EA FC24 and what happened to FIFA 24?
FIFA is one of the largest and most profitable sports franchises released every year. Electronic Arts has been creating soccer games for over two decades, and with the advent of Ultimate Team, the game has become one of the most popular sports video games overnight. The trailer for the next episode of the series was released recently, but it's called EA FC24 and we've already seen its logo. It probably caused a lot of confusion. This happened with EA FC24 and FC 24 Coins.
EA releases a new game in the FIFA series every year and spends on the latest bundles, updates, reviews, and marketing translations. But this year the game will be called EA FC24 and we are looking forward to it. EA isn't just renaming its top-grossing game for nothing, but before we tell you what happened to FIFA 24, there are a few things you should know.
The International Football Association (FIFA for short) is the governing body that organizes and regulates all major competitions in the world. EA has signed a licensing agreement with FIFA to use the association's name in its games. The deal will see EA pay FIFA $150 million a year, with the deal expiring in 2022. FIFA is asking for over $1 billion to extend a four-year contract. Basically, EA lost the license to use the FIFA name due to FIFA's high demands.
While EA lost its FIFA license, the company still has other deals bigger than the FIFA name. For example, they still have contracts with the Premier League which allow them to use the kits and crests of English football clubs, the Bundesliga, La Liga, and of course the UEFA Champions League.
