Elden Ring: Castle Ensis Walkthrough - Defeating Rellana, Twin Moon Knight

Phase 1: Sword Combos and Glintblade Magic

Two Upward Sword Swings: Rellana will frequently use a combination of two upward sword swings, leading into a powerful downward strike. Roll through the downward strike, then follow up with your attacks. This is one of her easier moves to predict.

Diagonal Double Swing: Rellana's diagonal swing is tricky as she may delay the second swing. Wait for her second swing and roll into it for an opportunity to land a few hits.

Strafing for a Back Attack: If she starts strafing around you, it's likely she's setting up for a back attack. Don't dodge too early; wait until she begins her attack and then roll away or into her to avoid the opener. From there, maintain your distance while timing your dodges carefully.

Spin and Jab Combo: Sometimes Rellana will raise her swords, tricking you into thinking a downward strike is coming. Instead, she spins and jabs, starting a longer, unpredictable combo. It's best to distance yourself and let the combo finish. The last attack is typically a double thrust, which can be dodged by rolling into her, allowing you to counterattack.

Glintblades:

High Glintblades: Rellana may summon glintblades above her head that delay their launch. While she summons them, you can get in 2-3 hits before they fire.

Low Glintblades: These fire instantly, and she follows them with a long-range dash attack. Roll to the side to avoid both the glintblades and her dash attack, and then punish her with a few hits.

Charged Sword Beam: When she charges her sword for a beam attack, run toward her. Roll through the beam when she swings, then strike if you're close enough.

Phase 2: Magic-Fire Sword & New Abilities (Triggered at 50% Health)

When Rellana reaches 50% health, she charges her swords with magic and fire, gaining new attack properties.

Fire and Magic Sword:

Her fire sword leaves flame trails that explode shortly after, increasing her range.

The magic sword can now release blade beams at the end of her combos.

Fiery Tornado and Flame Geysers, She may summon a fiery tornado, creating geysers around the arena. This is a good time to back off, avoid the flames, and heal or rebuff yourself.

Five-Beam Sword Combo, Her magic sword beam combo now shoots five beams. You can avoid the final beam simply by walking sideways, making this a safe moment to drink a flask if needed.

Phase 3: Twin Moon and Massive Sword Attacks (Triggered at 30% Health)

As Rellana nears 30% health, she gains her final set of abilities.

Summoning the Twin Moons: Rellana will lift into the air and summon two moons. These crash down one after another. Jump to avoid their impacts, then roll through Rellana's third, personal crash-down attack. This gives you an opening to attack her as she recovers.

Key Tips for Victory:

Patience: Rellana's attacks are powerful but have predictable patterns. Stay calm, wait for the slower, more punishable attacks, and land hits when safe.

Movement: Rolling into her attacks rather than away is often safer, especially in phase two when flame trails and sword beams are more dangerous.

Explore the Shadow Realm: If you're struggling, take time to explore the Shadow Realm and improve your Scadutree Blessing to increase your overall power.

Waterfall Path: Ride west to find two rivers that form waterfalls on either side of the castle. Dodge the Troll Knight as you approach.

Checkpoint and Ramparts: Look down to spot the Castle Ensis Checkpoint and the Cross of Miqeulla. From this vantage point, you can reach the ramparts above the gate.

Hidden Chest: At the southern end of the ramparts, there's an unguarded chest containing the Carian Sorcery Sword, a thrusting weapon that doubles as a Catalyst for sorceries.
