Path of Exile 2: How to Get Sacred Flame Shrine Scepter

Sacred Flame is one of the strongest Scepters in Path of Exile 2, and it only drops from the hardest boss in the entire game when it is at its strongest. Multiple builds rely on Sacred Flame to function, making it one of the desirable Path of Exile 2 items in the trade market.

Obtaining this item is only within reach of players with an MF Endgame-ready build or a lot of Path of Exile 2 currency to throw at the problem. Here's the breakdown.

How to Get Sacred Flame Shrine Scepter in PoE 2

There are three ways to obtain the Sacred Flame Shrine Scepter in Path of Exile 2.

Arbiter of Ash

Trade with other players

Reliquary Vault

Arbiter of Ash

The Sacred Flame Shrine Scepter is an exclusive, limited drop that has a chance to drop every time you defeat Arbiter of Ash, the pinnacle boss at Difficulty 4. Players can fight the Arbiter of Ash in the Burning Monolith, the large structure at the starting point of the Atlas of Worlds, right next to the Ziggurat Refuge, where you begin your journey.

To open the Burning Monolith and fight the Arbiter of Ash, you will need to find three Citadel Keys, one from each of the three types of Citadels: Iron, Copper, and Stone. When all three Citadel Keys-called Crisis Fragments-have been gathered at the Burning Monolith, the fight against the Arbiter of Ash will be unlocked. Every time you defeat this pinnacle boss, you will earn two Arbiter Atlas points to allocate in the Atlas skill tree. Doing so allows you to increase the difficulty level of the Arbiter of Ash, making him stronger but also more lucrative. At Difficulty 4 (max difficulty), the Arbiter of Ash starts dropping its most valuable Unique drops with regular frequency: the Sacred Flame Shrine Scepter and the Prism of Belief Diamond.

Trade with Players

The most reliable way to obtain a Sacred Flame with the exact stats and modifiers you want is to buy it through the official PoE 2 trade site from other players. Keep in mind, however, that doing so will cost you a lot of currency due to the rarity of this item.

Reliquary Vault

If a PoE 2 supporter has drafted and submitted a Foiled Sacred Flame, there is a chance players will be able to obtain it through a Reliquary Key dropped by the Arbiter of Ash. Using this Key at the Reliquary Vault (right next to the Burning Monolith) will net them a foiled version of this Unique.

How Does Sacred Flame's Resistance Presence Work in PoE 2

The stat that makes Sacred Flame an OP item in Path of Exile 2 is "Enemies in your Presence Resist Elemental Damage based on their Lowest Resistance." This makes it so that whenever you or your allies attack an enemy, that enemy is forced to use its worst resistance stat to tank those attacks. This is insanely good because enemies in PoE 2 always specialize in one thing and are lackluster in others.

As a general rule, if you're facing an enemy that spews fire, it'll specialize in fire attributes and will have relatively high fire resistance at the expense of its other resistance. For obvious reasons, attacking this enemy with a lightning attack will be much more effective than using a fire attack. With the Sacred Flame, this is no longer the case. Attacking this very same enemy with a fire attack will be as if you've attacked with a lightning attack (assuming lightning is its lowest resistance), and the effects will be devastating. It's easy to see how this effect can change the course of the game and make situational builds work in a way no other item can.

This also means that lowering the elemental resistance of an enemy will force that lowered resistance to be used to calculate all incoming elemental damage. So, even if you're a fire Sorceress, lowering the lightning resistance of a character will benefit you massively.

Also note that while the Sacred Flame Shrine Scepter's level requirement is technically only Level 24, it typically has a level requirement of 78 or above. This is because this item only drops from Arbiter of Ash, which scales the dropped Sacred Flame's ilvl to 82+, increasing the level requirement as a result. The only exception to this rule is a Foiled Sacred Flames obtained from the Reliquary Vault.

The Sacred Flame Shrine Scepter is a unique item in Path of Exile 2 that plays a significant role in various builds, particularly those focusing on totem mechanics and elemental damage. It's crucial to understand how the level requirements and item drop mechanics work, especially when considering this item for your build. Use Exalted Orbs, Chaos Orbs, and Divine Orbs to craft or upgrade this item. Consider MMOexp for purchasing the scepter or PoE 2 currency for further upgrades.
