Skull and Bones: How To Enter PvP Combat

Ship combat is one of the biggest parts of Skull and Bones, but the PvP ship combat isn't as easy to find as you might think. While other players can be seen sailing around in the same world as you, there are only a few select instances where you can engage in PvP combat. Here's what PvP modes are available in Skull and Bones and how to participate.

Every Skull and Bones PvP Mode

PvP only exists in Skull and Bones as part of world activities, which spawn randomly as you play. If there isn't a PvP event happening while you are playing you cannot engage in PvP. There are three modes at launch: Cutthroat Cargo Hunt, Helm Wager, and Hostile Takeover.

There are two types of world events, PvP and PvE, with PvP events featuring a red icon. The PvE events have a dark blue icon, so it's fairly easy to tell at a glance what type of event it is.

Cutthroat Cargo Hunt

Cutthroat Cargo Hunt spawns a rare treasure map and tasks players with getting the map and completing the treasure hunt as fast as possible. While sailing through the open ocean, other players can attack you to steal the treasure map. Once a player reaches land with the treasure map, they can no longer be attacked.

Hostile Takeover

Hostile Takeover is an endgame PvP event that has you compete with other players to take over an encampment to add it to your empire. This mode is more PvPvE, as the objective is to take over an outpost while defeating other players also trying to take over that same outpost. Victory adds a new piece to your empire, which will passively produce Pieces of Eight over time.

Helm Wager

The last PvP mode is Helm Wager, another endgame event. Helm Wager allows one player to wager their Pieces of Eight and other Skull and Bones Items for big rewards. Other players will be invited to hunt down the person who made the wager, while the person who started it must travel to a designated outpost.

Can PvP Be Disabled?

Currently, PvP cannot be disabled in Skull and Bones. While the vast majority of the game doesn't involve PvP and random ships and cheap Skull and Bones Items cannot attack you, if you want to participate in the three PvP modes, you will have to battle it out with other players.
